Board Election Meeting will be Thursday, September 2nd at 7:30pm.

Since Covid messed up a bunch of things for our Club, we’ve decided to hold a special board election meeting tomorrow (Thursday 09/02/21). This is in advance of our annual meeting that we usually hold the first part of January. We will be electing board members & officers, and discussing other items. Unless things change, we have one board member opening, and all of the officers terms are up, so those positions are open.

If you are interested in volunteering as board member or officer for the Club, stop by tomorrow’s meeting. You can nominate yourself, or you can also nominate someone you think would be a good fit. All nominees must be a paid member in good standing with the Club.

This is a great opportunity to give back to the Club, and the time commitment is small enough that anyone can do it.

Here are the terms for current Board members:

2020 SPFT Board
Officers (1-year terms)
President: (Open) Tony Stifter –Year 2
Vice President: (Open) Nate Gubbins –Year 2
Treasurer: (Open) Tom Muellner– Year 2
Secretary: (Open) Greg Meyer– Year 2

Board of Directors (3 year terms)
Eddie Rivard, 3rd year (Open)
Del Kauss, 2nd year
Randy Mark, 1st year

MEETING 7:30
North St. Paul VFW
2483 7th Ave E,

Sunday, June 6th

Meet at the Silver Bridge picnic area where Hwy 63 crosses the Rush River in Martell at 1:00.

WI Trout – Like years past we will again be fishing the western Wisconsin streams and meeting for lunch at the silver bridge in Martell.

We’ll meet for a picnic lunch at 1:00 pm at the picnic area at Hwy 63 and the Rush River in Martell.  The old silver bridge is gone so it may look a little different for people who haven’t been there for a while. There are picnic tables but bring a folding chair to make sure you have a place to sit.

For this first meet up of 2021, Club will not be providing lunch, so we ask that you bring your own beverage and lunch.

Members usually fish on their own, then come to the picnic area for lunch. We recommend carpooling with other club members, and that you find a friend or member to fish with, then stop by for the picnic.

Seeing as we are asking for you to BYO, this event is open to all.

Hope to see everyone there.

DIY FLY ROD ADVENTURES with CASEY SMITH

THURSDAY, MARCH 5th | 8:00

Our program for March Casey will be presenting DIY travels with a fly rod, minimalist packing, getting around, and a whole lot more.

He’ll talk about the different destinations he’s been to, with a spotlight on Chilean Patagonia.

From Casey:
Although originally wanting to be on the Professional Bass Circuit when I was young, I’ve worked as a professional touring musician, studio producer/engineer and guitar instructor for 21 years.

In the past 6 years, fly fishing has made a resurgence in my life and become an obsession. Concentrating mainly on saltwater species, I spend my time fishing half the year on Martha’s Vineyard, MA where I work, and travel the rest of the year chasing fish around the country and globe carrying everything on my back.

READING MUSKY WATER | December 12th | Stephen Wisner

[et_pb_section fb_built=”1″ _builder_version=”4.0.6″ collapsed=”off”][et_pb_row _builder_version=”4.0.6″][et_pb_column _builder_version=”4.0.6″ type=”4_4″][et_pb_text _builder_version=”4.0.6″ hover_enabled=”0″]

Our December 12th meeting will feature Stephen Wisner owner and guide of Eau Claire Fly Anglers. His presentation will be from 8-9:00 or so.

Stephen’s presentation will focus on identifying musky holding water in rivers. He will also answer any questions about musky rods, lines, leaders and flies, or any question that folks might have about musky fly fishing, specifically in rivers.

Stephen Wisner first cast a fly rod in 1973. Since then, he has logged thousands of days fishing. At 18, he began guiding trout fishing on the Henry’s Fork in Idaho and Madison River in Montana. He moved to Eau Claire in 1995 and discovered the thrill of chasing smallmouth bass and musky on area rivers. Stephen is a patient teacher and loves sharing his years of fishing knowledge with anglers of all skill levels.

We meet every Thursday at Gulden’s, with social hour from 6:30 to 7:30, followed by open tying (except on program nights). Some Thursdays we will have beer ties at Summit Brewery, or other local establishments. Guldens may have booked the room on short notice to other groups. Make sure to watch Club emails, our Facebook page, and web site for more info.
