The Amazing CDC Feather
Cul-de-Canard (CDC) is an incredibly buggy material that is very useful for dry fly, emerger, and nymph patterns. It has amazingly buoyant properties and when treated right can float for hours, even when you are catching fish. Standing alone or paired with other materials, CDC is by far a favorite material as far as how buggy it looks and how effective it is when trout fishing.
CDC Feathers are one of the greatest natural fly tying materials available. The unique structure of the feather makes them extremely buoyant. The movement of the individual fibers is lifelike and draws the attention of trout. While CDC is primarily used in dry flies and emergers, it can be great when used for soft hackles and legs on nymph patterns.
I’ve collect a few videos and article links below—so make sure to check them out. Stop back often, as I plan to update this page with new videos and photos on a regular basis.
